GDreta — retatrutide — is the next generation of weight loss research compounds. Where GDmounjaro (tirzepatide) targets two receptors and semaglutide targets one, GDreta targets three. That additional mechanism is why the phase 3 trial results attracted significant attention when they were published.
GDreta activates GLP-1, GIP and glucagon receptors simultaneously. GLP-1 and GIP reduce appetite and slow gastric emptying. Glucagon increases energy expenditure and drives fat breakdown in the liver. The combination creates multiple simultaneous mechanisms targeting body fat from different angles.
